Have another Rose

One look says it all
[Typist note: This is a series 4 Rose somewhere in the middle of the series.]

It took some time for her to get to her feet but when she did and dusted off her black trousers to really look around she frowned with an arched brow. Out of all the new places to find herself in it had to be a forest this time. Usually the landings were in more modern places like cities. Not in full blown nature. Maybe this wasn’t even an Earth for once. And as she glanced up at the night sky to see the stars out among the transparent clouds that passed maybe it was. Always hard to tell.

One glance at the circular device in her hand before she pocketed it back in her blue leather bomber zip jacket. "Right then. Suppose a bit of exploring is in order." she said to herself as she started to walk not really knowing where she was going.

He knew her, or should have known her, because her face felt so right; it was like grasping at straws. Fragments kept coming away with each tug, the familiarity of her hair, the dark brown of her eyes, or the way her hips looked in... he glanced over her outfit. A comment, almost made, an interruption but then that title, that title and he dropped his journal again, flustered as he quickly pulled it all back to him, falling on one knee to look up at her.

"I'm not a, a Doctor, no," he said after a moment. "Just a professor, me, did you," he hesitated and stood up, "Need a physician?" Then, without waiting for an answer, he scratched the back of his head, "I'm sorry, do I know you? Have we met before?" There was that feeling again, that needling, irritating feeling that he was missing something.

The expression on the blonde’s face fell just a little bit more at his conformation or lack there of, of her question. The hope dwindled just a little bit. But he was so much like him, her mind argued. Those eyes, that hair and that voice that could only be him. She had never dealt with a parallel version before and refused to believe that it was possible. He’d told her once that, such a long time ago, that it just couldn’t be. "Oh." A small frown graced her lips as her eyes continued to study him as if still searching for the answer that she had longed to find.

"Professor," she repeated softly and then blinked knowing that it was rude on her part to keep staring but unable to help herself. It was sort of fitting she thought and really wouldn’t be the first time he was somewhat of a teacher recalling the one time they had gone undercover at that school. But then his questions broke her next train of thought and she focused back on the present. "Maybe." Though honestly she didn’t know. "I used to travel with someone exactly like you once." So much like you. How could the universe by this cruel?

She kept staring at him in a way that made him feel entirely uncomfortable, almost naked, a notion that made him fidget nervously. He nodded, face shifting into a certain lack of recognition, one that came because, well, he wasn't a traveler. Not really. Not anymore, but he shook away that nagging thought, jumping suddenly and removing his coat. "It's, well, bit chilly," he explained, handing it to her and feeling silly for not thinking of it from the start.

"Are you..." he glanced over her wardrobe, questionable, best, "Far from here? There's a school, close, you should come back with me. It's not a great distance and I'm sure we could let you a room for the night." He didn't want her to leave, reasons yet unknown, though surely it was unwise to leave her in the middle of nowhere like this.

And she was still trying to figure this out, thoughts going to and fro from it possibly being him to him being someone else entirely. Chilly. Well it was slightly now that he mentioned it. She glanced around the wooded area before looking back at him and seeing the coat. Not about to turn it down, she reached for it before draping it across her shoulders. "Thanks," she said giving him the smallest of smiles.

Now she paused at his question looking around yet again. She was quite a way from home. Probably even more than what she was estimating. "No, I’m from..." Her voice trailed off unsure of how she should explain it. She didn’t want him to think her mad. "Far away. Really far." There that seemed a bit better. "And that would be lovely." Though really she wasn’t sure just how long she’d be there but she really didn’t want to leave any time soon. He intrigued her. "Professor...Sorry don’t think I caught your name?"
